Viking Expeditions

Viking Expeditions is the expedition cruise line of Viking, the river and ocean cruise company. It launched in 2022 with two identical, purpose-built Polar Class 6 ships, Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris, each carrying 378 guests to Antarctica, the Arctic, the Great Lakes, South America, and beyond.

Viking expedition fares include your stateroom, all onboard dining including specialty restaurants, wine, beer, and soft drinks with lunch and dinner, a shore excursion in every port, Wi-Fi, expedition gear, access to the spa's thermal suite, and self-service laundry. Gratuities are not included; Viking adds a daily service charge to your onboard account. Flights and travel insurance are also extra unless included in a promotion.

Viking's expedition ships sail to Antarctica and South Georgia, the Chilean fjords and Patagonia, the Panama Canal, the Arctic, Greenland, the Northwest Passage and Arctic Canada, and the Great Lakes of North America.

There is no difference in the ships themselves. Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris are identical sister ships, each with 378 guests, the same staterooms, dining venues, and science facilities. The choice comes down to itinerary: both sail Antarctica, while Viking Octantis also sails the Great Lakes and South America and Viking Polaris also sails the Arctic.

Yes. All Viking ships, including the expedition ships, are adults only. Every guest must be at least 18 years old.
