In July 2026 we boarded the MS Roald Amundsen for this same Alaska's Inside Passage itinerary — nine nights from Vancouver to Whittier, chasing glaciers by Zodiac instead of watching them from a deck rail eight decks up. This isn't a brochure we're reselling. It's a trip we've done, on the ship you'd be sailing, on the route you'd be sailing it.
We've secured a limited group allocation on the July 3–12, 2027 departure at pricing below HX's own published rates. Nine double cabins. Three single cabins. Once they're gone, or once the quote expires, this rate is gone with them.

Day 1Embark
Vancouver
Board the MS Roald Amundsen in Vancouver. Settle into your cabin, run through the safety briefing, and get your first look at the ship that'll be home for the next nine nights.
Day 2At Sea
Queen Charlotte Sound & the Inside Passage
A full day cruising the sheltered waters of the Inside Passage, with Haida Gwaii breaking the swell to the west. Eyes on the water for humpbacks, orcas and Pacific white-sided dolphins.

Day 3Landing
Misty Fjords
Part of the Tongass National Forest — waterfalls, snowcapped granite walls, and a daily Zodiac excursion included in your fare, weather dictating the exact route rather than whether you go out. Bears, moose, sea lions and eagles all call this wilderness home.

Day 4Culture
Klawock, Prince of Wales Island
A town of roughly 700 people and a center of Łingít culture, home to a Totem Park with 21 carved poles — several replicas of originals that once stood in the winter village of Tuxecan.
Exploring the coastline, including a pass through the Inian Islands.
Day 5–6Exploration
Southeast Alaska — Frederick Sound, Chatham Strait & Icy Strait
Two open exploration days where the Captain and Expedition Team choose the destination based on ice, weather and wildlife activity. Expect whale-rich waters and secluded coves; optional kayaking (an add-on expense, not included in the fare) may also be available in Icy Strait if conditions allow.

Three glaciers — Guyot, Yahtse and Tyndall — feed this bay beneath the jagged profile of Mt. St. Elias, the second-highest peak in the U.S. Included Zodiac exploration gets you close to the ice, with orcas, sea otters and harbor seals in the Gulf waters beyond.

Day 8History
Valdez
A town best known for the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill and its remarkable ecological recovery since. The Valdez Museum covers Native Alaskan art, Gold Rush artifacts and the region's bush-pilot history.

Day 9Glaciers
Tidewater Glaciers of Prince William Sound
Home to 150 glaciers, 17 of them tidewater. Your captain picks the best location of the day and gets the ship's small boats — included in your fare — as close as conditions safely allow, with humpbacks, eagles and harbor seals sharing the water.

Whittier — journey's end, gateway to Prince William Sound.
Day 10Disembark
Whittier → Anchorage
Disembark in Whittier, a fishing town of a few hundred people tucked between glaciers and Prince William Sound. Transfer included to the airport in Anchorage.

Most Alaska cruise content online is a 2,000-passenger ship docked in Juneau alongside four others. This is a different category of trip entirely — closer to the wildlife, further from the crowds, and priced accordingly once you account for what's actually included.

What to know before you book
What is included in the HX Alaska Inside Passage fare?
All meals, coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine, beer and spirits, daily Zodiac and small-boat landing excursions led by the Expedition Team (included every day the itinerary calls for one — weather affects the route, not whether it happens), use of the ship's sauna, hot tubs, pool and fitness room, complimentary WiFi, an expedition jacket and a reusable water bottle to keep, and the transfer from Whittier to Anchorage airport after disembarkation. HX's official WiFi package is geared toward browsing rather than guaranteed streaming — on our own July 2026 sailing we were able to stream YouTube without issue, though this depends on satellite conditions and isn't something HX promises, so treat it as a pleasant possibility rather than a guarantee.
What is not included?
International or domestic flights to Vancouver and from Anchorage, travel insurance, luggage handling, optional shore excursions with local partners in Klawock and Valdez, optional small-group activities, and spa treatments.
How is this different from a mainstream Alaska cruise like Holland America or Princess?
Ship size and inclusions are the two biggest differences. HX's MS Roald Amundsen carries a maximum of 490 guests versus 1,900+ on a typical mainstream ship, and gets close to glaciers, coastline and wildlife using small Zodiac boats rather than viewing from deck at a distance. That smaller size also means access to narrow fjords and coves large ships can't navigate, and it's usually the only ship at a landing site. Drinks, WiFi, gratuities and daily excursions are included in the HX fare rather than priced as add-ons.

When is final payment due?
A 15% deposit is due within 7 days of adding passenger names to the booking. Final payment is due April 4, 2027 — 90 days prior to departure.
Where does the cruise start and end?
The cruise embarks in Vancouver, British Columbia and disembarks in Whittier, Alaska, with a transfer included to the Anchorage airport. It does not return to its starting port.
